Booking an Appointment

Appointments can be arranged by contacting our reception team at:

• Location 1: Life Mount Edgecombe Private Hospital, Suite No. 3, Annex B
• Location 2: JMH city hospital,11^th floor (sessional rooms)

No referral is required to schedule a consultation. However, please note that some medical aid providers may not reimburse consultations booked directly with a specialist. We recommend confirming your benefits directly with your medical aid before your appointment or consult your DSP GP prior to booking your appointment.

Payment Process

We believe in being transparent about every part of your care, including diagnosis, treatment, and the costs involved. If you have any questions, please speak with our staff at any time.

• Each medical aid sets its own reimbursement rate called a "scheme rate". These rates may differ from the actual cost of providing specialist care.
• The practice’s fees are structured fairly and competitively to reflect the skill, time, and resources required for each service.
• Any shortfall between the medical aid payment and the practice fee remains the patient’s responsibility.
• Consultation fees are payable on the day of the visit. Current rates can be confirmed when booking your appointment, email(apppointments@urologywellness.co.za) or call or what’s app (0716769266).
• Payments can be made via [cash, card, EFT] banking details on request, (admin fee of 5% if paid by card).
• You will receive a receipt to submit to your medical aid for reimbursement.
• After-hours or emergency consultations may carry an additional charge.

Please note: The consultation fee covers the consultation itself (history, examination, and diagnosis). Any diagnostic or treatment procedures performed in-office such as ultrasound, cystoscopy, or wound care are billed separately. These will be submitted to your medical aid where applicable, but if payment is declined, the patient will be responsible for the cost.

Post-Operative Reviews

Routine post-operative reviews are not automatically included in the surgical or admission fee.

• If you do not have a complication and would like to come in for a post-operative review, a R900 review fee applies for seeing the doctor.
• Post-operative visits related to complications or significant clinical concerns will be assessed individually and billed according to the complexity and care required.

Office Procedures and Investigations

Certain diagnostic tests and procedures performed in the practice carry additional fees, depending on the procedure/investigation performed.

Surgical Procedures

Before any surgical procedure, patients will receive an estimate of the total costs including the surgeon’s fees.

• Members of certain medical aids (for example discovery classic and similar plans) may have full cover for surgery.
• Other schemes may apply a co-payment, which remains the patient’s responsibility.
• Typically, 50% of any co-payment is payable 48hrs before surgery to confirm the booking, with the balance due on the of the operation.

Fees for the anaesthetist, assisting doctors, and hospital costs are billed separately by the respective providers.

Remuneration Guidelines

• The practice accepts patients from all major medical aids.
• Billing is based on the complexity, time, and skill required, not on the number of patients seen.
• Each case is assessed individually and fees are determined accordingly.

Typical Fee Structure:

• Consultations: R1200
• Ultrasound: R800
• Review Consultations (including routine post-operative reviews with no complications): R900
• Admissions / Scopes / Surgery: Minimum of [3] x scheme rates
• Major Surgical Procedures: Minimum of [3] x scheme rates.
• Special Considerations: No patient will be turned away due to financial difficulty. Fees may be adjusted after discussion with Dr Riaz Osman in special circumstances.
• Completion of Forms and Reports: Please allow up to 3 months turnaround. A pre-payment of R1500 applies. Contact reception for the current rate.
